Thinking of claiming through your own insurer?

If another driver caused the accident, you may not need to. Here's the difference for a replacement car.

Check if you're likely eligible

Three questions. No personal details needed.

A no-cost replacement car is for drivers who weren't at fault, where we can recover the hire cost from the other driver's insurer.

Question 1 of 3

Was another vehicle involved?

A guide only. Eligibility depends on the circumstances of your accident and is confirmed when you call.

How it works

  1. Call or request a callback

Tell us about your accident and your car. It takes about 5 minutes.

  2. We deliver

A like-for-like replacement, brought to the accident scene, your repairer, home or workplace.

  3. We recover the cost

We recover the hire cost from the at-fault driver's insurer. Card details are taken at delivery as security.

This is a credit hire arrangement, not a giveaway. You sign a simple agreement for a reasonable, like-for-like vehicle and a reasonable hire period; we then recover the hire cost from the at-fault driver's insurer. If liability is disputed, we'll talk you through what happens next — and we explain everything clearly before you sign.

Been asked to sign a release by the at-fault insurer?

Talk to us first. Insurers sometimes ask you to sign a Deed of Release (or similar) that can waive your right to recover the hire costs. If you sign and we then can't recover those costs, you could become liable for them.

“Keep Driving Perth truly went above and beyond for me. After being involved in a four-car pileup and not being in the right frame of mind, they came to the rescue — they called me that same evening and dropped off a car the very next morning. They loaned me a vehicle for two months and I honestly would've been completely lost without it. The entire team is fantastic, incredibly supportive and genuinely caring.”

“Absolute top blokes, had the car dropped to me the day of my accident. Crystal clear communication throughout the whole process — big thankyou to Saxon in the office for looking after me and making it as hassle free as possible.”

“Absolutely amazing crew that made a stressful, confusing time of car accidents and write-offs so much easier and less stressful. Our loan car was clean, easy to drive and didn't skip a beat. Big shout out to Cody who helped us more than he could ever know — ten stars!”

Was the accident your fault?

Common questions

Is Keep Driving my insurer?

No. Keep Driving supplies accident replacement vehicles to not-at-fault drivers. We're not an insurer, we're independent from insurance companies, and we don't provide insurance or financial advice. We supply a replacement vehicle under a credit hire agreement and recover the hire cost from the at-fault driver's insurer.

Can I still contact my own insurer?

Yes. You can contact your own insurer at any time, and your policy may require you to tell them about the accident. Using Keep Driving for a replacement vehicle doesn't stop you doing that.

Will I have to pay my insurance excess?

No. If you weren't at fault, you don't need to claim through your own insurer for the replacement vehicle, so there's no excess to pay and no claim on your policy. Keep Driving recovers the hire cost from the at-fault driver's insurer. The only excess that could apply is if you have an accident in the hire vehicle itself.

Who pays for the replacement vehicle?

If you're the not-at-fault party you don't pay the hire costs — Keep Driving takes on recovering them from the at-fault party. Provided you give us accurate, truthful information and follow the agreement, there's no charge to you.

What could I be charged for?

Only fuel. The hire costs are put on credit and recovered from the at-fault party. You remain responsible for any fines or parking infringements, and for extra cleaning or unacceptable wear and tear if the car isn't returned as delivered. Business-registered vehicles pay the GST component (claimable on your BAS).

Do I need to provide a credit card?

Yes, your card details are taken at the time of hire as security for any costs you're responsible for: fuel, infringements, cleaning, unacceptable wear and tear, and admin. If you have an accident in the hire vehicle, an excess applies to that incident. We'll always contact you before processing any payment.

This is separate from your own accident claim. You never pay an excess on the accident that brought you to us — avoiding that excess is the reason to come to Keep Driving rather than claim through your own insurer.

What rights do I have as a not-at-fault driver?

Your rights following a not-at-fault accident are covered under Australian Tort Law — you have a right to claim an accident replacement vehicle. We take on recovering the cost from the at-fault party, so you get back on the road with no out-of-pocket hire cost.

How long can I keep the vehicle?

For the duration of the repair period — or, if your car is written off, until you've received your settlement.

What information do you need?

Your details (driver's licence, car registration and insurance), the at-fault party's details (their licence, registration and insurance), and details about the accident.

Are there any restrictions to book a car?

You'll need to hold a full, current driver's licence, and we need the at-fault party's details to provide a no-cost vehicle.

Do you cover regional areas?

We service Western Australia, and our main coverage is within roughly 100km of Perth. We can often help outside that area too — give us a call and we'll let you know. We deliver to the accident scene, your repairer, home or workplace.

The at-fault insurer asked me to sign a release — is that OK?

Not without speaking to us first. Insurers sometimes ask you to sign a Deed of Release (or similar) that can waive your right to recover the hire costs. If you sign and we then can't recover those costs, you could become liable for them — so please contact us before signing anything from the at-fault party or their insurer.
